PHOTO/ VIDEO DOCUMENTATION INTERN
The Photo/video documentation intern works directly with the Director and Assistant Director to document Meridian Gallery's exhibitions, public programs, and concerts. This position requires someone with experience in photography and videography and a serious interest in commitment to pursuing the field. The ideal candidate has an interest in building their photography and videography portfolio and has access to equipment and software and a working knowledge of documenting artwork, people, and sound in a unique environment such as Meridian Gallery (a gallery and performance space within a 100 year old mansion). Subject matter includes gallery installation shots, crowds at public events, and speakers, performers, and musicians in action. The Photo/Video documentation intern is responsible processing digital images and video/sound into polished formats which can be distributed on the Meridian Gallery website, social media outlets, publications, and other relevant publishing opportunities with the purpose of archiving and publicizing Meridian's interdisciplinary programs. An interest in promoting materials to different outlets is a major plus.
This unpaid position requires approximately 8-10hr/ a week commitment for 4-6 months and flexibility for evening and weekend shifts as well as regular weekly office hours to check-in with the Director and Assistant Director. COMMUNICATIONS INTERN
The Communication intern works directly with the Director and Assistant Director at Meridian Gallery to write and produce press materials, and develop press relations, publicize Meridian Gallery exhibitions and public programs, increase audience outreach. This position requires someone with a strong background in art/visual writing criticism and an interest to publicity/marketing/ and press relations in the art world. Additional responsibilities include circulating announcements, mailings, drafting event postings and calendar listings, composing e-newsletters, and maintaining Meridian's e-mail list. The intern will also assist in communications via the Meridian website and social network outlets. The Communication Interns should be proficient in writing and copy-editing, and have an ability to work independently while communicating and working within a multi-tasking collaborative office.

The Meridian Gallery Music Series is seeking Volunteers for the 2012 Season!
The Meridian Gallery is a nonprofit arts center that dedicated to increasing social, philosophical and spiritual change among previously isolated individuals and communities.
Founded in San Francisco in 1989, the Meridian Gallery is committed to promoting education and culture through the arts. Through monthly concerts by diverse composer/performers, both established and emerging, the Meridian Music series seeks to present a wide range of art music from the vital Bay Area scene and beyond. The series offers audiences music in a variety of idioms, created by a variety of compositional processes (from solo voice to sophisticated multi-media/software processing; from improvisation to "new complexity") in an intimate setting. The series embraces cultural and ethnic diversity as well as sonic diversity.
The Meridian Music series is seeking volunteers who can be available to: work the door, set up/take down chairs, and help with the reception. Of course, volunteering means that the concert is then free for you.
