Banned & Recovered: Artists Respond to Censorship

The Center for the Book in San Francisco and the African American Museum and Library in Oakland will be exploring the theme of censorship in Banned and Recovered Books: Artists Respond to Censorship in association with the American Library Association's Banned Books Week. Curator Hanna Regev asked prominent Bay Area artists (e.g., Sandow Birk, Enrique Chagoya, Emory Douglas, Mildred Howard, Naomie Kremer, Jan Wurm) to choose once-banned books as inspirations. Many events.
